The official website of Ukraine’s Brovary region (brovary-region.gov.ua) website hacked by Clash Hackerz. They are an Anonymous-affiliated group. This isn’t the first time when the Brovary region’s website is hacked. Back in April 2011, it was defaced by hackers from Azerbaijan.
Ukrainian government websites have been targeted by hacktivists since the anti-government protests started in Kiev. However, in most cases, the hackers launched distributed denial-of-service (DDOS) attacks to disrupt the websites, instead of actually hacking them.
Many people are showing support for the protesters in Kiev, some are on the other side of the barricade. On Sunday, unknown actors launched a DDOS attack on the website of Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty, which provides extensive coverage of the events in Ukraine.
At the time of writing this article the website has been restored by administrators. The defacement page was displayed for around 13 hours. A mirror is available on zone-h.org.
