U.S. counterpart Chuck Hagel and his visiting Japanese Defense Minister Itsunori Onodera met Thursday on TOKYO for further cooperating over fighting against cyber attacks and training relevant personnel, according to local media.
Japan's Kyodo News, citing government officials as said the two counries defense ministors are expected to agree on establishing a bilateral framework to discuss means to counter cyber attacks on government branches and other organizations
The both countries defense ministers will also likely to cover the issue of reducing burden on Japan's Okinawa of hosting U.S. military bases, including an early return of land and facilities south of the U.S. Kadena Air base.
The meeting came ahead of a Japan and U.S. "two-plus-two" summit to be held later Thursday involving the two countries' foreign and defense ministers that will put their focus on the future of the bilateral security alliance.
